Indian government is keen to improve the rice quality and even is determined to take firm steps for this. FCI has taken a big step in this context, which will really increase the hopes in inclination of rice exports.
Food corporation of India has collaborated ( FCI)with IICPT( Indian institute of crop processing technology) to search for the OTR( outrun ratio) of rice in 11 paddy cultivating states. These states include: Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Punjab, Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odessa, and Kerala. It is also reported by local sources that FCI has signed MOU with IICPT and a memorandum for complete novel and fresh trace based upon this. This decision has been taken on the requests of rice millers and Government.On the bases of this the decision related to new advancements and introduction of new rice quality will be introduced.
According to local sources, the FCI is conducting the study based on requests from the rice millers and state governments for fresh trial milling and fixation of uniform OTR in the country. The study assumes significance in the light of the introduction of new varieties of paddy in the country as well as advancements in rice milling technologies. According to the chairman of FCI this study will reveal the milling yield of rice from paddy and even it will study the divergent qualities of rice under different climatic conditions. This is great step because this can certainly help to make the Indian rice a more reputed and prominent brand.
