A prompt action form consumer protection department has shown that how prompt they are in action as they have swiftly taken the action recently for the welfare of consumers.The department of consumer protection department recollected rice brands after the incline in prize of rice. They asserted that the supplier of a particular brand of rice got his business temporarily withdrew illegally and tried to make hike in the prices of commodity.

Retail super marketers said that they did not get any circular regarding any withdrawal of rice brand allegedly because of any hike in price. The claims of consumer protection department are that they have removed the brands from market but on the other hand Emirates Cooperative Society and Union Cooperative Society are unaware of all these changes. So there will be no effect on rice cost. Farid Al Shamandi, Director of Emirates Cooperative Society told that there was not such notice from the ministry side to take the rice brands off from the shelves so there is no question of price hikes. Ministry has told all the brands to be retained. The department told that a reputed brand tried to create price hike by getting his brand removed from the shelves and was fined Dh100,000 and imports by dh 5 per kg.

Al Nuaimi warned all the suppliers that strict action will be taken and the emergency contact numbers are issued to public for any such critical situation. All the brands have been recalled and prompt action is taken by the consumer right protection department, which is appreciable.
