In a bid to seek the import for Philippines, Vietnam Northern Food Corp. or Vinafood I, and Southern Vietnam Corp. or Vinafood II has presented the lowest offer for separate batches of total 800,000 metric tons of well- milled white rice which the country seeks between May and August. Philippines’ state grain agency, The National Food Authority will be paying up to $477.28 per ton.
Vinafood has submitted four different bids of $436, $445, $439 and $449 a ton for each 100,000 ton lot. In this way vinafood Grabs the Philippines rice Tender. The batches distributed over the period will be supply of 8000,000 tons- 200,000 tons in May at $436.50 a ton by Vinafood III, next 200,000 tons in June at $437.75, in July another 200,000 tons at $439.25 and last in August at $441.25.
The other bidders submitted the quotes as:
- Louis Dreyfus Commodities Asia Pte. Ltd. for 100,000 tons with price of $469.31 a ton, delivery in four batches of 250,000 tons each.
- Thai Hua Co. Ltd. offered 100,000 tons at the price of $ 474.22 a ton.
- Singsong (Hong Kong) offered 100, 000 tons at price of $475.68 ton.
Originally nine groups participated for the bid but backed out, where Asia Golden Rice and Toepfer International didn’t submit bids and Olam International Ltd & Roan Agrifactor corp. submitted the bids but were disqualified as they were uable to provide rice before July.
