The Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Hoang Trung directed all the export agencies of the country to bring their focus on the rice export to China.

For this purpose he has assigned a Ministry of Trade to coordinate with relevant agencies and localities to look the situation of rice trade specially that which is done through the borders ,north with China and South with Cambodia 

According to a statistic report released by Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) Vietnam is the largest rice exporter to the China for the first seven months of the year 2014 which is 38 percent of the country’s total export volume and 36.18 percent of total export revenue.

A report posted on Vietnam Food Association (VFA)’s website on Monday showed that, in August alone, Vietnam exported some 627,089 tons of rice worth 270.353 million U.S. dollars.

As of the end of August in 2014, Vietnam had made some 1.83 billion U.S. dollars from selling 4.24 million tons of rice to world markets, said the association.

The Philippines needed over 500,000 tons of rice during October-December period while Indonesia will import some 400,000-500,000 tons of rice till the end of 2014,

In 2013, Vietnam made 2.99 billion U.S. dollars from exporting 6.72 million tons of rice.
