The government on occasion of  Eid-ul-Azha allocated 651.65 tonnes of rice for distribution among 65,165 VGF (Vulnerable Group Feeding) cardholders in 15 unions of the upazila

But the Upazila administration suspended the distribution of rice after receiving complaint from the Baro-Dargah union members against the chairman of the Union for the charge of unfair preparation of  list of VGF beneficiaries.

The member alleged that the chairman has included the names of his known ones in the list instead of the needed one dropping ultra poor people from actual benefits.

Of total 45.50 tonnes of rice, 4550 families under VGF card holders in Baro-Dargah union was supposed to get 10 kgs of rice before the festival.

Defending against the claim, Sarwar Jahan Makhon, chairman of Baro-Dargah Union Parishad said the list submitted to the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) was prepared as per resolution of the UP meeting. He said that all the names before entering the list were verified and priority was given to the poor one.

UNO ATM Ziaul Islam said that the union members are not satisfied with the list prepare by the UP chairman so they asked him to prepare a fresh list.
