Dr Atta Hussain Soomro, director general of Agriculture Research Sindh, on Wednesday addressing a seminar at Quaid-e-Awam Agriculture Research Institute, Larkana said that the Sindh government has launched aerobic rice project to introduce new varieties and get maximum crop yield.

The seminar was held to celebrate the successful experiment of ‘DR 92’ rice variety.

Dr Atta said that the concerned officials have observed water shortage due to climatic change and hence they have considered to introduce those varieties which are feasible to counter the water scarcity.

The need to adopt the new methods felt after a view to copeup farmers with shortage of water. Aerobic rice production is a revolutionary way of growing rice in well-drained, non-puddled, and non-saturated soils without ponded water.
