Rice areas to cultivate other crops in Thailand-Discussion about modifications in agriculture and rural expansion in 2014 was done by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat and Thoi bao Kinh Te Viet Nam (Viet Nam Economic Times).

In the year 2013, total7.9 million hectares and 1,157 ha of corn were planted. The rice was in plenty and the quantity of import was nearly 4 million tons of corn and soya yearly. So, around 130,000ha of rice will be shifted to cultivation of other crops, mostly corn and soya. It is also said that rice plantation areas will be deducted but still scale area from 200,000 to 250,000 ha will be used to cultivate appropriate export rice varieties. Hong (Red) River Delta and Cuu Delta areas will be used to cultivate rice and it is hoped that the cultivation of rice  and crops would be nearly 43.4 million tons in 7.6 million hectares area.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development here will help farmers to yield more income with fewer efforts. The state intends to provide better corn varieties and all complete technical support regarding this.
