Shanti Agro IndustriesThe Indonesia government is expecting the country’s 2015 paddy rice production to around 75.2 million tons which is slightly below the 75.5 million tons, according to the estimates of the statistics agency. The reason for this fall in rice output is due to extending of drought conditions which affected around 111,000 hectares of rice planted area. In this planted area, an around 8,900 hectares of cultivated land may see a failed harvest. However, in around 14 million hectares of land is planted with rice in a year, as quoted by the officials of Agriculture Ministry.
In view of the current situation, the government has allocated around 2.8 trillion Rupiah (around $208 million) to support rice sector. With the allocated funds, the government is planning to develop and to improve water supply for drought-affected areas in the country.
