The first ever meeting between the Rice Hubs Stakeholders was held on Tuesday at Baobab Holiday Resort. With the collaboration of The National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) with Africa Rice Centre (Africa Rice) to promote rice sectors in the Gambia.
All stakeholders currently working within and around the Rice Hubs in West Coast Region and Central River Region platforms attended the meeting
The deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Agriculture, Sheriffo Bojang ,appreciated the Africa Rice Center for their support in every way to achieve the mission Rice 2016.
It was a two day meeting and the objective of the two-day meeting is to pool all stakeholders currently working within and around the Rice Hubs in West Coast Region and Central River Region platforms, forge partnership to work collectively in the hub areas in ways that guaranted rapid impact and develop a common vision and outcomes, based on the shared ideas of the value-chain actors..DPS Bojang said that the Africa Rice Centre always there to help them to document their needs and guide them in a right direction for the upliftment of rice sector in The Gambia.
Dr Philip A. Idinoba of AfricaRice unveiled that AfricaRice is one of the 15 international agricultural research Centers that are members of the CGIAR Consortium. It is also an intergovernmental association of African member countries. The Center was created in 1971 by 11 African countries. Today its membership comprises 25 countries, covering West, Central, East and North African regions
