As per the sources, it has been reported that the Kano State Government has approved N1 billion as soft loans to rice farmers’ association to boost rice production in the state. According to the state commissioner for Information, Internal Affairs, Youth, Sports and Culture, Muhammad Garba, informed at the end of the State Executive Council meeting in Kano on Thursday. Further, it was narrated that the council has also approved N100 million to wheat farmers’ association to procure improved seeds and equipments to boost their yield.
During briefing after the meeting, it was intimated that this loan will not only boost production but also bring about effective and efficient rice production, thereby increasing the production of rice in the state. In addition, the state government had also approved over N600 million for the procurement of 40 trucks to Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB). It was emphasized that these trucks would help in the evacuation of the heaps of refuse in the metropolis.
Furthermore, it was informed that the council has also approved N74.3 million for the procurement and installation of four raw water pumps with starters at Chalawa Dam. The commissioner expressed the government’sfirm decision to develop an infrastructure in the state as part of the welfare initiatives for all the people.
