The Railway authorities are unable to ship in the rice, which is going to lead the problems of paddy shortage in this particular state that is Imphal.This is why Imphal can face rice shortage. It is expected that in May the problem of shortage will become more acute in FCI’s Jiribam go-down.
Near about 2 to 3 thousand metric tonnes of paddy have been brought in the beginning of Feb this year. Near about 10 to 12 metric tonnes were brought regularly previously to complete the demand in the state of Imphal, to the jiribam godown of FCI but due to irregularities in tans-shipment it worsened. Now imphal state will have problem because there is no any arrangement for sending stock to the Imphal from this Godown. The problem needs immediate action otherwise the food crisis in this state will occur because of this. Food distribution minister need to ponder over this. According to this problem or information Imphal can face rice shortage.
According to press data the Railway authorities are bringing only certain amount that is 2000 or 3000 metric tonnes of rice this yesr in starting of February to Jiribam go-down. This is an acute shortage as compared to earlier which was 10,000 to 12,000 metric tonnes.
