As per the sources, it has been stated that the Haryana government ordered physical verification of paddy stocks by senior officers of the level of additional chief secretaries. Haryana government has allotted 13 districts to Administrative Secretaries for supervising the physical verification of paddy stocks of state procurement agencies lying in the rice mills. The government had said the verification had to be completed in 20 days.
In deference to the demand of the opposition leaders, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said Chief Secretary D.S. Dhesi has, in a letter to administrative secretaries, directed that the deputy commissioners in districts concerned would depute at least one senior gazetted officer, one police officer and one or two officers of the procurement agency concerned in the team constituted for conducting physical verification. He also informed that the Vidhan Sabha during the Winter Session that physical verification of paddy stocks would be carried out.
In this regard, O.P Dhankar Haryana’s Agriculture Minister narrated that the chief minister has given approval for physical verification of paddy stock. He also said inspection would be done of the rice millers, who have not supplied 20 percent of the rice till November 30, within the next 15 days and 41 millers, were blacklisted last year for not supplying rice. O.P Dhankar said No complaints pertaining to irregularities in procurement process have been received so far and paddy is procured through rice mill owners on the behalf of government agencies every year, for which necessary quota is prescribed.
