The rice farmers around the Shai Hills in the Greater Accra Region delegates Mr Lemuel Kwashie Martey, the 2012 National Best Farmer and owner of Mannah Farms Limited to put forward their request before the government to provide them better farm inputs to promote grain cultivation in the country.

Mr Lemuel put there demand before Ministry of Food and Agriculture.Farmers wanted Fonton rice harvester to reduce the drudgery and loss associated with manual harvesting.

Farmers blaimed the secretariat of the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF), that he is discouraging their efforts to gain the advantage of  fonton rice harvester identified by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for their use.

Mr Lemuel on behalf of the farmers urged the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to facilitate the farmers by providing them latest equipments and to watch the activities of GNAFF so that the agriculture and fishery sector can regain its lost attractiveness.

But Mr. Ebenezer Asante, Administrator of GNAFF refused the allegations of farmers and has declined to discuss on farmer’s request.
