In order to promote agri-business between the two countries,the Indian Agriculture Minister,Radha Mohan Singh met Canadian Minister for agriculture and agri food in New Delhi.

Singh urged the Canadian minister to speed up  a way for the visit of scientist from both the countries to each other’s institution.Also to remove the trade imbalance between the two countries, he urged the Canadian side to  import agricultural commodities like potatoes,grapes etc.

He also discussed over Canadian investment in the cold storage infrastructure,technology from production through processing, storage and distribution so as to become ecologically sustainable.

On his side ,Canadian minister said that it would be an opportunity for the Canada to collaborate and cooperate with India and to take forward the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by two countries in 2009.

Also Canada would like to share its technology for the India’s agriculture sector growth and productivity.

Ritz also met Anup Kumar Thakur, secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries and Dr. S.Ayyappan, secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education among others.
