The state government of Bihar, Sasaram has decided to offer one time settlement scheme to the rice mill owners for recovery of Rs 2,000 crore.

On the Suggestion of Araria DM, CM Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, at a high-level meeting on Saturday in Patna, the government is reportedly forced to commence the move after lacking to retrieve the amount by legal process.

“The rice mill association of Araria district had submitted a proposal to the DM for one time settlement scheme. A meeting of rice millers of the state has been called to discuss the one time settlement scheme on November 11”, said State Food Corporation (SFC) MD Arvind

According to the MD “the state government is ready to accept its basic cost from the millers. The state government has also decided to introduce new policy for procurement of paddy on minimum support price in the season”.

The MD reassures that the new policy will be decided at a meeting on November 6. Paddy procurement had strike the headlines during 2011-12 and 2012-13 and even appear in the state assembly. The chief minister Nitish Kumat had ordered a vigilance inquiry into the scam in Rohtas district
