Shanti-AgroAccording to a report of Thai Commerce Ministry, it has been planned to hold an auction of 1.2 Million tons of Sub-Standard rice in early July, is likely to postpone to early August. In this regard, the Commerce Ministry officials and experts from the National Farmers Council, the Thailand Development Research Institute (TDRI) as well as rice surveyors and suppliers are reportedly carrying out the whole process of rice separation.

The Ministry has asked them to screen spoilt rice and recommend the best approach for its disposal, so that the public must be defined by the bidding process. It was also assured that rotten and fungal contaminated rice will not be mixed with rice meant for consumption .The official would be assigned to follow up the process and delivery of the rice to respective destinations.

Further, it was informed that the government is planning to auction around 400,000 – 500,000 tons of good quality rice for consumption before the end of July.
